In clean TM bowl add sugar and pulverise for 15secsonds on speed 9.
Add butter and chop for 5-10 seconds on speed 7.

Great! I have been looking for Thermo frosting. Thanks Steph!
My mother used to make this frosting when I was a kid. Easy as in the TMX
Thanks for posting this. People ask me all the time for it again and it will be good to send them here.
Oopsey had left out the amount of sugar!! All fixed … My apologies. Thanks Julie for pointing this out to me.
Steph xo
Hi Steph, would you recommend this for icing a children’s birthday cake? Will it hold lolly decorations etc on the sides? We’re not overly fond of sweet icing, hence I’m looking for something recommended as yummy that can also stay put for a day. Thanks for your advice and great website
Hi thanks for your query.
Yes as long as the lollies arent too big I think you would have no trouble putting lollies on top of this icing. It is quite sensational this icing!!
Good luck!
What would happen if the plastic wrap didn’t touch the mixture? I try to avoid using plastic on warm food.
Thanks
[...] I decided to make cupcakes for the first ever time in my adult memory (I know, right?) and used this icing, which is from the 2009 Thermomix calender. Oh. My. God. This stuff is amazing! It’s so [...]
I know this is an old post of yours but came across it looking for an icing recipe. Can you tell me, should I leave the butterfly in for the last two steps ie. adding vanilla and cooked milk mixture, or should the butterfly be removed? Thanks
