Beetroot Relish

Recipe by Thermomixer Ingredients

• 300g fresh beetroot

• 1 medium onion

• 1 orange (zest and juice)

• 3 tsp salt

• ¼ tsp nutmeg

• 5 Tbsp red wine jus or vinegar

• 2 Tbsp organic sugar


Place the zest of the orange into the TM Bowl and chop for 6 seconds, speed 7.

Add onion and beetroot and chop for 6 seconds, speed 7

Add the orange juice, jus and sugar and cook for 30 minutes, 100°C speed 3.

Puree for 6 seconds, speed 7

Place into a sterilised screw top jar and store in refrigerator.

Serve with cold meat and salad.

    Made this today and it was far too salty. Does it need the nutmeg and salt? Maybe leave these out, or cut the salt right down.

    Hi Sally, Thanks for letting me know… I haven[t tried this recipe.. not sure how it made it here… With my beetrrot relish I generally make the beetroot salad from the everyday cookbook … serve the salad for dinner… return leftover salad to bowl drizzle lots of yummy olive oil in and saute off at 100 for around 10 minutes on Reverse speed 1.5 Time will vary on the size of your chopped veg.

    It is delicious and I highly recommend.

    Thanks Steph, I will definitely try your suggestion. I will try this recipe again today and leave out the salt and nutmeg and get back to you.

    Success! This recipe was lovely when I left out the salt and nutmeg – they are in the ingredients list but not the method. Easy and delicious on home made hamburgers. I used red wine vinegar – not jus.
